The first Riata Poker Night of the new year saw some fresh new faces making an impact. A winner at his first final table, and a veteran getting shut out from his record setting 5th final table apperance.

Peter Greenlaw went out on the bubble as we saw two players eliminated on the same hand, leaving us with only seven to start the final table. Kunal was eliminated first, and Jessica Gilmartin left shortly after that. This was Jessica's third time to go that deep into the contest. Paul Tabor finished 5th, leaving him only two final table apperances behind his wife Amy who was eliminated early. Chris Florez played excellent poker, getting his money in as a huge favorite twice, only to have Melissa's hand come through on the river. She was eliminated in third, and Shane and Mark were left heads-up.

Mark pushed all-in on four straight hands, all pre-flop, and Shane finally came back at him with Kx. Mark showed Ax, and five cards later was our new champion.

Mark won $50, while Shane and Melissa won free pizza from Papa Johns. All of our top 10 finishers also took home a pair of tickets to see the local NBDL team, the Austin Toros.
