The third Riata Poker Night started with 48 players. They fought for 4 hours against the backdrop of game 4 of the World series to come to a result. The final table featured two ladies, which was a first. Two of the three short stacks went out early, having $2000 and $1500 with blinds at $500/$1000 when the table started. The biggest stacks went shortly after, until we got heads up between Frank Eppolito and Steve Tarr. Steve started with a 2:1 chip lead, but that reversed when Steve got all in with middle pair on an 8 high flop and Frank called holding an 8. The turn and the river changed nothing, and now Steve was the short stack. The final hand featured Steve on the button with blinds at $2000/$4000, and he was minimum raised pre-flop. He called with AJo and the flop hit 7-3-2 with two hearts. Frank led out with a $4000 bet, which Steve called. The turn brought the 10 of hearts, and again Frank fired $4000. Steve pushed back all in, and was called. Frank flipped QTo for top pair, and the heart Queen, leaving Steven with just 4 outs. The river brought another 10 to give Frank the win and the $50.
