The first Riata Poker night of the new year, and the players weren't wasting any time. We had a winner at 10:09 pm! The final table started with 9 players at 8:55pm. Tony was on life support, coming in with only 3,500 in chips, and was out quickly. Matt Workman came to the table with over 20,000 in chips, a commanding lead over 2nd. He proceeded to knock out Kevin (who was 2nd in chips) and Laura when They all got allin pre-flop and the A4s cracked Kevin's pocket Kings and Laura's pocket Jacks. With an huge lead, he proceeded to play the steamroller. Brian came next, with an all-in preflop, and Workman's A9o spiking an ace on the flop to beat Brian's sevens. Matt's wife Tracy was next. She came to the final table with only 2,300 in chips, but had dodged the carnage and doubled up enough to survive. She got it all in with the A7 of spades against her husband's Q8 of clubs. The 8 on the flop provided the injury, but the queen on the river was the insult. Glen's elimination took us to three handed play at 9:42 pm. With the board showing AT2J he pushed with QT and second pair. Matt called with A4, and the river six was not one of the 9 outs Glen needed.

Three handed saw Kels start with 17,100, Kristen with 8,600, and Matt with a massive 66,300. But Matt's luck was not to hold, starting with Kristen and Matt getting it all in with her Kh6d against his KdTd, and seeing two hearts on the flop join one on the turn and a fourth on the river to double her up. She was eliminated by Kels when she put the J5c against the A8c and recieved no help. Kels manuvered his stack well and doubled up, giving him a two to one lead, and Matt just started pushing every hand pre-flop. Kels took his stand with JTd and Matt turned over the 68o. The board gave Kels the flush (9c2dQd6d2c) and we had our result.

Kels won a 300 chip set, Matt got 10 hours of pool, Kristen got 5 hours, and everyone at the final table got one hour. All prizes were generously donated by G-Cue Billiards in Round Rock and the United Poker Association.
